This work was an exploration of taking my work with Monitors In Alien further. I wanted to experiment with processing OpenCV library and gain some abstract imagery from my edited footage.
The Background Subtraction example was a good introduction to openCV for me. I wanted to play with the idea on enhancing focal points and where our eyes are drawn to on the screen. How we ourselves view foreground and background in these scenes.

I started off with having some trouble adapting the code to my own videos and ran into some trouble with the version of processing I was running - however there is beauty to be found in these mistakes and I likes these glitchy screenshots.

Whilst I was experimenting with designing this example and manipulating it I was reminded of ascii and early net art - this kind of style that resembles these computer screens in a way. Theres also something interesting about the relationship between the fake information given through these monitors in the film and the stylisation of depictions of coding in movies.

Once I had collected a range of imagery I started experimenting with the AxiDraw by exporting the processing sketches as PDFs. This was a very interesting outcome and created these really intricate drawings.

I would've enjoyed experimenting further with the AxiDraw and these depictions of the movie screens and information of it. Below is a mockup of a short booklet containing these drawings.
I think there is a lot of interest in the overlapping of these line drawings and how we can see details of text and infographics within but struggle to make sense of them - they look alien in some forms.
